Summary

Effective August 8th 2023, the Livepeer Inc hosted gateway service will begin enforcing minimum performance thresholds for Orchestrators to receive transcoding jobs from Livepeer Inc Broadcasters. After this date, Livepeer Inc will maintain and enforce an internal blocklist of Orchestrators who will not be eligible to receive transcoding jobs from Livepeer Inc Broadcasters.

Please note that this policy is not a network-wide change, but rather a Livepeer Inc policy that will not automatically apply to any other Broadcasters.

Details

Performance Standards

Orchestrators must transcode at or below realtime in at least one region to be considered for work. Orchestrators will be added to the blocklist if they either (1) have a success rate of 0% OR (2) have not maintained at least one regional score at or above 6.3 in the preceding month.

Re-evaluation

Blocklisted Orchestrators in the active set will continue to receive test streams, and Livepeer Inc will re-evaluate the blocklist on a monthly basis using the performance standards outlined in the preceding section. Orchestrators who have improved their performance will be removed from the blocklist and will become eligible to receive transcoding jobs.

Orchestrators who have submitted a re-evaluation request will be required to show at least 3 days of strong ( > 6.3) test stream scores before their request is granted.

Blocklist Publication

The Livepeer Inc blocklist will not be published publicly, so as to promote diversity amongst Broadcaster work distribution decisions.

However, Orchestrators who believe that they surpassed the performance threshold for the preceding month but are not receiving transcoding work are welcome to start a dialogue with the team using this form.

In the future, Livepeer Inc intends to expose an API endpoint that will allow Orchestrators to check whether or not they are included in the blocklist.
